It is the friendly reception and treatment of guests or strangers. Or, it is the quality or disposition of receiving and treating guests and strangers in a warm, friendly, generous way. It is the church\u2019s inherent function as the church to be an organization of hospitality. William Temple said, \u201cThe Church is the only organization that exists for the sake of people who are not its members.\u201d This is precisely why the church ought to act out of a mindset of hospitality.<\/p>\n<p>Statistics<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Most visitors have decided if they will return to a church before the service begins. You have 6 minutes to make a positive first impression.<\/li>\n<li>People who stay in a church after six months know 7 or more people; those who leave know less than 3.<\/li>\n<li>The longer a person is a member of a church, the LESS likely it is that someone will call if they stop attending.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We are the Church:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We are not in the membership business. We are in the discipleship business.<\/li>\n<li>Hospitality precedes growth<\/li>\n<li>It is a matter of Character<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Four Areas of Hospitality:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Facility\n<ul>\n<li>Is it Clean?<\/li>\n<li>Is it accessible?<\/li>\n<li>Is it well marked?<\/li>\n<li>Is it meant to be used?<\/li>\n<li>Is it welcoming?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>People\n<ul>\n<li>Are they polite?<\/li>\n<li>Are they knowledgeable?<\/li>\n<li>Are they ready to serve?<\/li>\n<li>Are they inviting?<\/li>\n<li>Are they willing to accommodate strangers?<\/li>\n<li>Will they take the initiative?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Activities\n<ul>\n<li>Are they welcoming?<\/li>\n<li>Are they accessible?<\/li>\n<li>Are they appropriate?<\/li>\n<li>Do they meet the needs of visitors?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Communication\n<ul>\n<li>Is it clear?<\/li>\n<li>Is the language appropriate?<\/li>\n<li>Is it controlled?<\/li>\n<li>Is it accessible?<\/li>\n<li>Do you expect visitors?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cDo not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it.\u201d Hebrews 13:2<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What is hospitality?
