It’s the first day of September and many of our churches are scheduled to reopen for in-person worship services this month. This is raising a number of questions about in-person Sunday school and other children’s ministry programmes. There is so much to consider, especially as our children 12 years and under are not yet able to receive a vaccine against Covid-19, and as infections are once again on the rise.
Should we have in-person Sunday school? Should we stick with Zoom? Are there other options? What do we need to consider? And, how do we know what’s best?
Do you have questions like these?
Are you looking for a place to find some answers?
You are invited to join one of two Zoom gatherings next week to hear some helpful factors to consider as you make these important decisions.
Choose either Wednesday, September 8 at 7:30 pm (EDT), or Thursday, September 9 at 12 noon (EDT) and join in on a conversation with myself, Tori Smit (Regional Minister for Faith Formation, Synod of Central, Northeastern Ontario and Bermuda) and many others who have a lot of the same questions you have.
Each get-together will last approximately one hour. We will begin with an overview of important things to consider as you’re contemplating whether or not to restart in-person children’s programming, things to know if you do decide to reopen Sunday school, and alternatives if you choose not to. Then we’ll have a generous amount of time to ask questions, get some clear answers, talk about our concerns and share what you’ve been thinking.
If you’d like to be a part of either of these Zoom meetings, please email me at torismit@gmail.com to request the Zoom link to attend. Let me know your name, what church you’re at, and any questions you want to have answered. You don’t need to be from a church in the synod to participate; everyone is welcome.
I hope you’ll consider joining in and I look forward to seeing you next week.
Grace and peace, Tori
